The magnet sits in one side of the base. When the sand has piled up, slide it off with your thumb and the whole load drops exactly where you want it. No shaking, no scraping, no rubbing.
It runs the same neodymium magnet as the Magic Mag and does the same job. It is simply smaller, which makes it easier to carry in a pocket, a pack, or a prospecting vest, and easier to handle if you have smaller hands. A little less surface area means it holds a little less black sand at a time, and that is the only real trade. Sealed in UV stable epoxy resin, so it goes in the creek with you and wipes clean when you are done.
